Who looks into the world of horses will find many wise lessons about leadership, cooperation, communication, dealing with emotions and living in the here and now. The systems that we are part of, such as our family and organizations are similar to the herd of horses. As a prey animal, the herd is important for the horse to survive. The hierarchy, cooperation and communication in the herd, as a system, must be right otherwise the predators have free reign.
Human beings like us often act well in disturbed systems for a very long time. So it seems, because unconsciously disruptions in our systems have heavy influences on our daily lives. Unlike horses people develop a separation in their conscious and unconscious. We do this is through rationalization and repression of painful events. At first glance this seems a good survival mechanism, it also leads to inner conflicts that affect your life. From their natural tendency towards equilibrium, the horse will respond directly to disturbances in the system and the degree of (in) congruence between our conscious and unconscious.
The horse reflects a disruption of the system by following the pressure. It will then behave as what must be seen by the participant or the system itself to balance out and restore the system. The power of a session with a horse is the nonverbal. The image, feeling and experience make a lasting impression, give insight into unconscious patterns and invite you to a healing movement.
